Chris-Teena Mini-Coupe

The Chris-Tena Mini-Coupe is built from a kit manufactured and furnished by the Chris-Tena Aircraft Company of Hillsboro, Oregon. First flown in September 1970, the airplane was designed by one Bill Johnson, who named the airplane “Chris Tena” after his wife, Chris.  The kit, which cost $2,400 in 1974, includes all components necessary for construction of the aircraft. Estimated building time for the airplane is between six to eight months. The Museum’s Mini-Coupe was built by Melvin Ellis, formerly of Tillamook, Oregon.

The Museum’s Mini-Coupe assembly began in 1972 and ended with its completion in 1974. It was originally powered by a 1600 VW engine which was replaced in 1992 with a 2100 Revmaster (VW) engine donated by Paul Metzger of Portland, Oregon.
